    Job Description

    We are currently recruiting for a Payroll Co-Ordinator based in Burnley. The main focus of this role is to provide support to be responsible for providing an accurate, timely and effective Payroll service to ensure that our employees are paid correctly.

    Main duties will include but are not restricted to:

    • Processing end to end monthly payroll within set timescales for 160+ employees
    • Complete RTI submissions for HMRC
    • Carrying out data activities including new starters, tax codes, holidays and salary changes
    • Pension administration and auto enrolment for a variety of different schemes
    • Accurate reconciliation of voluntary and statutory deductions
    • Handle payroll queries in a timely and professional manner
    • Complete year end processes
    • Produce and analyse MI reports from HR/Payroll systems to identify and resolve discrepancies.
    • Manage relationships between payroll and internal and external stakeholders whilst working to resolve payroll queries.
    • Ensure time and attendance data is correct
    • Ensure payroll is compliant with policies and legislation
    • Assisting with finance team related continuous improvement tasks
    • Support the finance department with day to day activities

    Person Specifications

    • Have proven payroll experience and knowledge of complex payroll gained in a similar position
    • Have up to date knowledge of payroll legislation
    • Have a relevant payroll qualification or be studying towards (CIPP) is desirable
    • Knowledge of pensions, including auto-enrolment
    • Experience of year end processes and tax changes
    • Understanding of PAYE, National Insurance, SSP, SMP and RTI
    • Strong MS Excel skills
    • Resilient, proactive and well organised self-starter
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Be able to work with high volumes and to tight deadlines
    • Have a strong attention to detail
    • Be a strong communicator at all levels
