    Job Description

    This vacancy is being advertised on behalf of ambitions personnel who are acting as an employment agency.  

    Working for a well-established organisation based in Grantham the purpose of this role is to efficiently manage the legal team and resources in the delivery of legal services including but not limited to, legacy, property and commercial matters in accordance with professional regulatory obligations and in line with organisations charitable objectives.

     

    Key responsibilities:

     

    Commercial:

    • To manage and maintain all aspects of commercial contracts including the negotiation, review and drafting of contracts, management of the central Contracts Storage System and the renewal or expiry dates of all contracts
    • Provide research and assistance to the Procurement team in relation to the procurement process taking a risk based approach
    • To manage, prepare and maintain the Intellectual Property Portfolio

    Property:

    • Assist the Land & Property team in property transaction
    • Research property-related issues by the review of Title Deeds documentation, Land Registry search facilities and common law precedent
    • To draft and revise proposed legal documentation concerning grants of easement, licence agreements, management agreements, leases, acquisitions and disposals including completing all Land Registry requirements
    • To review and advise upon all rights and obligations with respect to both registered and unregistered land
    • Undertaking the conveyancing process regarding gifts of land and other estate acquisitions including all necessary searches and investigation

    Legacy Administration:

    • To manage a caseload of residuary and other legacy administration files from commencement to finalisation assisting the team with contentious and non-contentious legacy administration issues.
    • Prepare and submit income estimations and pipeline to the Finance team.
    • To conduct quarterly reviews of all legacy income matters and contribute to and finalise the quarterly Legacy Review process.
    • Liaise with Lay Executors and Estate Solicitors to maximise the legacy income entitlement and to ensure timely receipt of monies due to the Woodland Trust
    • Review and ensure accuracy of Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax calculations with regard to legacy administration files.

    General:

    • To manage, motivate and develop the Legal Team including provision of on-going training, delegating and distributing incoming legal work.
    • Provide legal advice and assistance on a wide range of issues, obtaining expert advice from outside specialists, as required to minimise and mitigate any potential litigation
    • Provide appropriate reports to senior management
    • To manage external legal costs wherever necessary in order to minimise financial impact upon the Department’s budget

     

    Person Specifications

    • Experience of contracts and commercial agreements
    • Knowledge of legacy administration and probate law Risk - working knowledge of identifying and managing risk within a business organisation Interpersonal
    • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with a wide range of issues
    • Organisation & Planning – able to plan time effectively taking account of organisational and departmental priorities and other colleagues work roles to achieve results.
    • Desirable Knowledge of Charity Law or experience working within the Third Sector would be an advantage
    • Great at building relationships internally and externally.
    • A respected, go-to person, great at working cross-functionally and able to represent the organisation in a professional, sensitive and positive manner
